Baruk Khazad!

Few of other race have succeeded in learning the language of the Dwarves. In this history (Lord of the Rings) it appears only in such place-names as Gimli revealed to his companions; and in the battle-cry which he uttered in the siege of the Hornburg. [link] That at least was not secret, and had been heard on many a field since the world was young. "Baruk Khazad! Khazad ai menu!" *Axes of the Dwarves! The Dwarves are upon you!*

Tell you what, you hear a yell like that and you see a sight like this, better start running. This fic was fun to do, as I wanted to only have axes in the picture, but I wanted to have a bunch of different kinds of axes. And armor too, so I had an interesting time coming up with everything. The Halberdiers are just dwarves I use in a lot of my pictures, of course, and the one berzerker guy is a pretty obvious Braveheart reference, but the one red-bearded dwarf in the center is an homage to this picture here, [link] drawn enormously better and with a great deal more realism than mine.

Anyway. Not much else to say about this pic. I drew the dwarves first and then I couldn't figure out what to stick in the background. I didn't exactly want another plain digital background, like with the two Gimli pictures, but I couldn't figure out what should be there. At one point it was a cave, at another it was a sunset, and finally I did a smoke-choked skyline and called it good.
